At Kinderpostzegels, we believe in connection. As Okrah from Triple ThreaT so aptly put it: "We also have a personal connection with Kinderpostzegels. It goes beyond just donating money to our organization. They also think along with us and help us connect with other organizations."
And just as we connect our partners with each other, we also wanted to introduce our donors to the projects that Kinderpostzegels contributes to.
"You invest in connection and involvement through personal contact. Very valuable. No letter or digital contact can match that," said one donor.
On July 11th, it finally happened: our first Donor Day. Thanks to Madurodam, we were able to hold our Donor Day in a truly special location. The first guests arrived at 9:45 AM. Some had already traveled quite a distance, as our donors come from all over the country. After a festive reception with pastries and the song "Kinderen voor Kinderen Next" (Children's Stamps) specially composed for Kinderpostzegels, Sofie kicked things off in the main hall at 10:30 AM.
Sofie briefly explained everything we do for children, both now and in the past. Then it was Irene and Iwan from Playing for Success' turn to speak. This organization helps children between the ages of 9 and 14 who are struggling at school. These children participate in a program of approximately 10 weeks after school to build their resilience and ensure they can confidently continue on their journey.
Finally, Okrah from Triple ThreaT shared his life story. He experienced firsthand the importance of a role model in an environment where it wasn't always so obvious. In his case, it was his basketball coach. This ultimately led him to start Triple ThreaT at the age of 19. Now, more than 15 years later, Triple ThreaT is an integral part of Haarlem, and young people continue to help other young people develop and support each other. Okrah also brought three young people with him to share their own stories. They, like him, are now committed to supporting the young people in their community.
I've been supporting you for several years, but now that I've seen the presentations, I'm so glad I did. What inspiring speakers!
Thanks to the donors who support us sustainably, we give superpowers to the children who need them, and we hope to continue doing so for a long time to come!
We concluded the morning with lunch, and many donors enjoyed taking a look at the exhibition about the history of Children's Stamps.
After lunch, everyone was allowed to enter Madurodam Park. A wonderful end to a fantastic morning.
We have a special partnership with the Madurodam Children's Fund. Since its inception, the fund has donated €600,000 annually to projects and (in-house) activities that inspire and motivate children and young people to connect with others, become active, and contribute to making society a little more beautiful!
