The Children's Stamps Children's Panel

Children make their voices heard through the Children's Stamps Children's Panel

Kinderpostzegels has been the leading charity for children, run by children, for 100 years. In 2024, we took an important step to further engage children: the Kinderpostzegels Children's Panel.

Children are experts in their own world, making their fresh perspective and creative ideas invaluable. By involving children in the work and goals of Kinderpostzegels, we work not only for them but also with them. The panel gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and share their perspectives.

Why do we want to involve children?

By listening carefully to children, we ensure our work aligns even more closely with what's truly important to them. This is valuable not only for our organization but also for the children on the panel. They learn new skills such as presenting, critical and creative thinking, and build their self-confidence.

And that is very important, because today's children are tomorrow's adults.

What does the children's panel do?

The Children's Panel is actively involved in various aspects of our work, with a calendar full of exciting activities! And it doesn't stop there, because the Children's Panel's advice directly influences the choices we make!

Meedenken

The panel will contribute to our multi-year strategy, engage in discussions with Kinderpostzegels employees, and contribute to practical matters such as our communication with children regarding the Kinderpostzegels campaign.

Werkbezoeken

The panel visits various projects run by our partners, seeing exactly where the money raised goes and how children receive support. They delve into important themes such as loneliness, poverty, and a safe place.

Rondetafelgesprekken

We regularly organize meetings where we discuss topics they consider important with the children's panel. We brainstorm solutions together, discuss current topics, and give children the opportunity to share their ideas with us.

Why should Kinderpostzegels involve children? Because we have a completely different perspective, and secondly, we're also much more honest!

How we involve children

Involving children is a key part of our approach. Besides the children's panel, this is reflected in the following activities:

Kinderpostzegelactie

Since 1948, children have been committed to helping others through the Children's Stamp Campaign. They delve into the problems of other children and actively raise money for their peers.

Kinderportemonnee

Every year, hundreds of children help decide how a portion of the Children's Stamps money should be spent. They consider important issues like poverty, loneliness, and problems at home, and share their opinions through interactive workshops.

Kinderregeerakkoord

Hundreds of children contributed to a special children's coalition agreement in 2024. Ten children further developed the ideas and presented the final plan to members of the House of Representatives.

Would you also like to be part of our Children's Panel?

We're always looking for enthusiastic children from grades 7 and 8 to join our children's panel. Register now for next school year's panel!

The panel meets an average of four times at the Kinderpostzegels office in Leiden and twice at a location of our partners throughout the Netherlands, usually on Wednesday afternoons.

How can you participate?
Send a WhatsApp message to our colleague Sara, along with your parents/guardians, at 06-28562607. Tell us a little about yourself and why you'd like to participate in the Kinderpostzegels Children's Panel. Would you rather send a voice memo or an email ? That's fine too!
