We recently received a wonderful cheque of no less than €2,850,000 for our new programme in the Caribbean: 'Resilient children, flourishing future'.
The contribution is an additional allocation from the Postcode Loterij Dream Fund. This fund is intended to give courageous, impactful, groundbreaking initiatives a chance.
The programme: Resilient children, flourishing future
A world where every child grows up safely and flourishes, that is our dream. We will make this dream a reality by opening our doors to children, their families and local residents in twelve neighbourhoods on the six islands. Close to home, right in the neighbourhood.
The occasion
Thousands of children in the Caribbean part of the Dutch Kingdom are growing up in circumstances that limit their development. One of the biggest causes is poverty. On Curaçao, 31% of residents live in poverty, and on Bonaire, Saba, and Sint Eustatius, this figure is 28%.
our goal
With this program, we aim to break the vicious cycle of poverty, violence, and inequality of opportunity, so that every child can grow up safely and resiliently and develop their talents.
We reach 15,360 children, and for no less than 80% of them, we achieve demonstrable resilience strengthening.
