Since 1995, the Children's Rights Collective has been on a mission to ensure that the rights of children enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child are guaranteed in the Netherlands. This applies to government policy, legislation, the practices of organisations, and everyone who interacts with children. If the rights of children in the Netherlands are violated, the CRC sees it as its duty to stand up for these children and their rights.
The Children's Rights Collective provides information on children's rights. To ensure that children receive what they are entitled to, everyone in the Netherlands, young and old, must know what children's rights entail. They also advise the government on how children's rights can be safeguarded in the Netherlands and where improvements are still needed. The Dutch government submits a report to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child every five years on the situation of children's rights in the Netherlands. In addition to this government report, they send a report on behalf of children's rights organisations to the Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva. In this report, they present their view on the state of children's rights in the Netherlands.
