In 2018, 28% of foster care placements were prematurely terminated. A frequently cited reason for this is the lack of support. By connecting foster families with each other according to the Mockingbird model, they are stronger and better able to offer a loving and stable place to foster children. The networks consist of 6 to 10 foster families, always with an experienced foster family as the central hub (hub home foster family).
Our common goal is to lay a foundation for rolling out supportive networks from hub homes across the Netherlands.

Our role
In 2021, we brought the Mockingbird model to the Netherlands together with the Dutch Association for Foster Families (NVP), the Youth Care Support Team (OZJ) and Kennisbureau ter Meulen.
We established the Foster Family Support Foundation, which has since set up and expanded it with our help.
