The holidays were only just over and Adit, Isah and Reza were already eager to go on a visit to one of our partners.
We collaborate with Valente, the national trade association for organizations that provide help and support to vulnerable people in our society. These include mothers and children who have experienced unsafe situations at home and are now staying at Oranje Huis, a Blijf Groep facility.
Together we have created a more child-friendly environment, for example by adapting the garden and providing Warm Welcome Bags for the children staying there.
Colleagues Sonja and Sofie gave Adit, Isah, and Reza a tour of the Oranje Huis, visiting the children's room, the teenagers' room, the garden, and the temporary apartment. The visit made a deep impression on our children's panel, and they asked countless questions.
"Why is it even called Oranje Huis?" Adit wonders. Sonja explains that the name comes from a traffic light. Red means "Stop, unsafe situation." Orange means you're being taken out of the situation to calm down a bit so you can continue when the light turns green.
