“We thought it was just basketball, but it's so much more.”
On February 5th, children's panel members Noud and Julia visited our partner Triple ThreaT . They had researched the organization's activities beforehand, but they hadn't expected it to be so much more.
By leveraging sports, culture, and lifestyle, Triple ThreaT—with our support—creates a positive environment in the Schalkwijk district of Haarlem. It's a community of and for young people, where they are empowered through their own efforts and the support of coaches. By giving each other the feeling of true empowerment, through this loving attention, we see children grow.
Julia and Noud were given a tour by Elias Simson and Faouzi Ben Hammou at the special location, also known as 'House of Dreams'.
There are plenty of sports facilities, as well as a music studio and even a hairdresser. Afterwards, they were allowed to participate in a kickboxing class!
Noud and Julia interviewed youth board chair Yasmila and coach Elias about their roles in this unique organization. The word "community" quickly came up. But what does that actually mean?
Elias explains that it is a bond between people: not based on blood as with a family, but based on the same dreams and passion.
